MEET JENNIFER

Hi! Iā€™m Jennifer Jennette, Yoga educator and practitioner, studying since my first Iyengar class in January of 1994. Since 2003, I have been teaching both adults and children the 8-limbed path of Yoga with a focus on alignment, therapeutic applications and the psychology of Yoga. I am also the creator of Surya Leela Designs - Organic and Hemp Clothing handmade here in the US.

I teach people how to sense what's happening physically, mentally and emotionally in the present and how they can respond in a way that honors their needs and results in feeling connected, protected, vital and aligned. Many wonderful yoga instructors, training and teaching in the Montessori method of education, cognitive and behavioral therapy, and my own experiences as a woman and a mother have influenced my teaching style. I understand the need for encouragement, inspiration, and safety, and I offer that to my students and clients.

I imagine a world where ALL adults and children in EVERY home and school learn the basics of Yoga and Ayurveda - how to care for and respect their bodies, each other, and the earth - to feel confident, supported, accepted and grounded in their roles as parents, children, siblings, spouses, friends, artists, educators, innovators, employers, employees, colleagues, community leaders...

I am a maker and an artist that delights in the incredible beauty and intricacy of nature. I try to capture that beauty when I design clothes, paint watercolors, write, make leaf prints and textile collages, create bags, eye pillows, pencil cases, and whatever else comes to mind.

When not teaching or making something, I talk to people and listen to what people have to say. I learn about anatomy and physiology, go to therapy, work out, meditate, daydream. I hang upside down and practice, practice, practice. I notice any fears and anxieties and try to take action. Iā€™m committed to being more compassionate and understanding. I feel deeply. I love a lot. I go for walks in nature, ride my bike, take long baths, and dance as much as possible.
