The Essence of Yoga ...

The Essence of Yoga is Peace - Ahimsa - not harming, feeling and acting out of love and respect for all of creation. Yoga is about observation and reflection, perseverance and courage, recognition and letting go. Yoga is about embracing who you are. Yoga practice includes exercises and guidelines that develop health, stability, and contentment. Fully embracing and making peace with yourself will empower you to live joyfully in your body and in the world. 

In Yoga practice, we learn to observe our thoughts, feelings and reactions to our experiences whether on the mat, at work, with a loved one or by ourselves.  We develop sensitivity and awareness which enables us to respond with grace and acumen to each moment as it arises. 

With the mind of a scientist, the heart of an artist and the eyes of a child, we develop our intuition, insight and ability to see and accept the reality of what is. With this understanding we courageously respond in a way that serves the highest good for ourselves and others.

Yoga takes time. A long time. A lifetime for most. Some even say lifetimes. Our conditioned way of thinking and behaving, our karma, is gradually (and often repeatedly) revealed unless we set an intention to align with new patterns. Do we falter and make some blunders along the way? Of course. But Practice is about understanding we have a choice. We can choose to take responsibility for ourselves and continue on with hope and faith, compassion and grace when the going gets tough. 

While the result of practice is bliss, the journey of our everyday lives is wrought with demands and dilemmas. Living is delightful and challenging. Yet, YOGA is always available. Yoga is the most practical, down-to-earth, no-nonsense practice you could ever undertake. Yoga - "Yuj" - yoking, union, connection, integration... YOGA is our ESSENCE - We ARE the ESSENCE of YOGA. The practice itself reveals this truth while soothing, stimulating, strengthening, and purifying the body through breath, movement, contemplation and clear perception. 

Yoga is integration - living in alignment. In YOGA, you are free to know yourself  and  embrace who you are - the shadows and the light. YOGA is an experience of awareness, acceptance, connection and love

Nothing is being hidden from you. Yoga is practical, accessible, and available - all the time, everywhere, to every body.
