The Essence of Yoga

The Essence of Yoga is Peace - Ahimsā - acting out of love and respect for all of creation. The journey of living is delightful and challenging, yet the experience of YOGA (connection and integration) is always available. Yoga is the most practical, down-to-earth, no-nonsense practice you could ever undertake. YOGA, the union of matter, consciousness and spirit, is our ESSENCE. Fundamentally, we ARE the ESSENCE of YOGA. The practice itself reveals this truth through soothing, stimulation, strengthening, and purification of the body.mind.spirit through breath, intentional action, contemplation, and clear perception.

The PRACTICE is about showing up and paying attention - to our thoughts, feelings and reactions to what we experience on the mat, at work, with others and by ourselves. We develop sensitivity and awareness, enabling us to respond with grace to what arises. With the mind of a scientist, the heart of an artist and the eyes of a child, we develop intuition, insight, the ability to see and accept the reality of WHAT IS and WHAT CAN BE.

Yoga is about observation and reflection, perseverance and courage, recognition and letting go. Yoga is about embracing who you are, embracing life. Through Yoga we embody the truth of who we are - beautiful miracles of creation, each and every one… single cells within a miraculous universe - empowered by spirit to evolve & contribute joyfully, gratefully throughout our lives and beyond.

Yoga takes time. A long time. A lifetime for most. Some even say lifetimes. Our conditioned way of thinking and behaving, our karma, is gradually (and often repeatedly) revealed unless we are willing to align with new patterns.

Do we falter and make some blunders along the way? Of course! Practice is about understanding we have a choice. We can choose to take responsibility for ourselves and continue on with faith & compassion when the going gets tough.

Nothing is being hidden from you. Yoga is practical, accessible, and available - all the time, everywhere, to every body.
